Rednano.sg receives international award for innovative use of search-driven digital media
Singapore, 12 February 2009 – Rednano.sg has won an international award for innovative use of digital media to reach customers - another acknowledgement of Singapore Press Holdings’ moves to extend its reach beyond print.
Rednano.sg, Singapore’s home-grown search and directory engine, was one of only two companies selected for the Digital Market Award by Fast Search and Transfer, a leading global provider of search technologies.
The announcement was made at Fast’s annual conference, Fast Foward, in Las Vegas on 11 February.
SPH Search, which created and operates rednano.sg, was described by the Fast selection panel as breaking new ground.
Fast said: "The award recognises the companies that most effectively uses search to embrace the digital economy and evolve its traditional business model to find new revenue streams and increase user fidelity.
“It is presented to companies that have harnessed the potential of these new delivery models and continues to find new, value-added services for consumers."
Mr Paul Jansen, CEO of SPH Search, said: "The digital space has been growing phenomenally and it's only natural that people will need trusted guides to help them navigate through this. That is why we created Rednano. More than that, Rednano is also helping those not on the Internet to get on it and make money from their presence there."
He added: "We launched just 10 months ago and Rednano traffic is growing at an encouraging average of 50 per cent month-on-month."
"In fact, the growth is accelerating quarter on quarter."
Mr Jansen said: "Use of our SMS 33333 directory service has also been rising. As the economic slowdown continues, more people are finding it cheaper to use our 33333 service than a mobile concierge service.
"Even after our free trial period ends, we will keep our charge to just 30 cents - and this applies only when you receive a directory result
The other recipient of the Fast award was McGraw-Hill, a global publisher of print and electronic products in science, technical, and medical books; professional and consumer books; and textbooks.
