Rednano Locate Takes Blackberry By Storm
Blackberry Storm, the world’s first clickable touch screen smartphone to come preloaded with Rednano Locate
Singapore, 17 April 2009 – SPH Search, a subsidiary of SPH and through its mobile platform Rednano Mobile, is partnering Research In Motion (RIM), the owner and developer of Blackberry, to offer Rednano Locate, its location-based directory and search service to Blackberry users. The first of RIM’s customers to take advantage of this service will be owners of the Blackberry Storm, a highly-awaited touch screen device which was launched yesterday.
Officially launched on 4 December 2008, Rednano Locate is a ubiquitous service supported across most mobile phone models and platforms. Using Rednano Locate, users can search for more than 100,000 vendors, including retail outlets, restaurants or petrol kiosks located near them. In addition to being able to enjoy from a wide range of promotions, users can also use Rednano Locate to access full addresses, contact details and maps to their desired destinations, plus the latest ‘live’ traffic updates, all on their mobile phone.

Its particular appeal is to the well-heeled – PMEBs who value time and convenience and need quick access to ready information anywhere, anytime.”
“For example, PMEBs who drive can use Rednano Locate to search for and navigate their way to the nearest petrol station and enjoy the latest promotions or discounts offered. They can also search for the nearest restaurant to host lunch with their business partners.”
Blackberry Storm features state-of-the-art multimedia experience with industry-leading communication capabilities. It comes equipped with a 3.25-inch, 480x360 half-VGA display for an enhanced web browsing experience and a 3.2 mega-pixel camera. It also supports online video-streaming on its high-speed HSPA networks. Blackberry Storm allows its users on the move, to access Instant Messenger (IM) and social networking applications like Facebook, MySpace and even Flickr, a popular photo-sharing website.
In addition to Blackberry Storm, Rednano Locate will also be preloaded in two of Blackberry’s existing models - Blackberry Bold and Blackberry Curve. SPH Search had recently announced that Rednano Locate would also be found on Windows-based mobile devices such as the HTC Touch 3G and HTC Touch Cruise. These partnerships underline SPH Search’s commitment to work with some of the world’s renowned mobile phone manufacturers and to have Rednano Locate supported by at least 90% of the market’s mobile phones by June 2009.
Rednano Locate is one of the three mobile services offered by Rednano Mobile. The other two mobile services are Rednano WAP (mobile.rednano.sg) and SMS 33333, a mobile directory service.
